
Bill was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Biology. He earned a Ph.D. at Washington State University, Pullman, Washington, with a major in Plant Pathology.
He was a Research Plant Pathologist with the Agricultural Research Service of the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Cheyenne, Wyoming and in Reno, Nevada where he was Adjunct Professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Nevada. He is married to Sally Myers and has three children from a previous marriage.
Bill became a Lion in 1973 with the Cheyenne, Wyoming Lions Club and transferred to the Reno Host Club in 1974. He has served that club in several official capacities including President in 1980-81.
He served with his first LIS clinic mission to Manzanillo, Mexico in 1996, and since then has served on missions to seven more Mexican cities, including three club-sponsored trips two of which were week-long trips. Bill has served as District 46 LIS Director since the summer of 2006.
