
Lion Jan Ahearn was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, raised in Milwaukee, and graduated from high school in La Grange, Illinois. She continued her education in music science and graduated from Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
Jan spent approximately 20 years in the insurance business as a Worker’s Compensation underwriter and office manager. Her favorite experience was being the chief underwriter aboard the USS Missouri when it was refurbished during dry dock days in Long Beach.
Lion Jan joined Big Valley Lions Club of Kelseyville in 1995 and served as the first female President in 1998. She was named Lion of the Year twice and also received the President’s Excellence Award. Jan served District 4-C2 as 100% Zone Chair. She also served the District as Membership Chair, Student Speaker Chair and Convention Chair. Multiple District Four presented the Excellence Award to Jan in 1998. She received the International President’s Certificate of Appreciation Award in 1999. Jan currently serves on the Lions Eye Foundation Board as a Trustee, and also as Secretary of Lions in Sight. She became a Helen Keller Fellow in 2001.
Jan is a long time member of Business and Professional Women. She served as District President in 1982, and was a State delegate to the International Convention in Washington D.C. in 1983.
Jan resides in the tiny hamlet of Nice with her husband PDG Joe. They met at Dodger Stadium on a blind date on his birthday in l984. And, as they say…the rest is history.
They have three children and two grandchildren.
