Joe Ahearn, PDG


PDG Joe Ahearn was born and raised in New Jersey.  After graduating from High School,  Joe spent seven years in the U. S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in l957 with the rank of 1st Lieutenant.

After serving his country, PDG Joe started his own Insurance Agency.  In 1958, he   joined the Piscataway Lions (New Jersey) serving as 100% Secretary for six years.  He moved to California in 1966 and was hired by the Hartford Insurance Company in Santa Ana.  In 1975 he moved into a management position with Ohio Casualty Insurance Co., and remained there until he retired in 1990.  KXBX Radio in Lakeport, hired him for four years as manager of evening programming, plus he announced play-by-play of local high school baseball and football games.  He completely retired in 1993 and then re-joined Lionism by joining Big Valley Lions Club in Kelseyville.  He has served on all Club committees and was 100% President in 1996.  He served as 100% Zone Chair for two years and 100% Region Chair in 1999.  PDG Joe has served on the District Leadership Committee and was the District Bulletin Editor in 2000-2001.  At the MD-4 level he served on the Publicity Committee for three years.  He became District 4-C2 Governor  in 2002.

PDG Joe has a Guiding Lion certificate and attended the Senior Leadership Institute at Lions Clubs International in Oak Brook.  He has received numerous awards, including Club Lion of the Year three times, District 4-C2 Lion of the Year, and the prestigious International President's Leadership Award twice.

PDG Joe is an Area Director, Bulletin Editor and Life Member of Lions in Sight.  He also serves on the Board of the Lions Eye Foundation as Trustee.  PDG Joe is active member of the Lucerne Community Church and serves as Secretary, Elder and newsletter editor.

PDG Joe resides in Nice with his wife Lion Jan.  They have three children and two grandchildren.
